Medi-Cal 250% Working Disabled Program Presentations and Resources - California

This program was established so workers with disabilities and earned income under 250% of the Federal Poverty Level could keep coverage by paying a monthly premium. It provides choice and opportunity to Californians with disabilities who would otherwise be ineligible for full scope Medi-Cal coverage due to earned income and work activity. Included are presentations and resources intended to educate consumers on this and other MIG programs.

Turning Straw into Gold: Harnessing HCBS Networks as a Provider Network Strategy for Global Health Reform

Market approaches must become flexible with broader access to alternate providers and services such as HCBS. In the past, HCBS networks have been expensive to build and at times unwieldy to manage without sufficient dedicated resources. This presentation, which was delivered as the keynote for the September 2010 Medicaid Management Care Congress in Washington, DC., reviews the critical challenges to overcome for success in using HCBS as a strategy to extend care access.

Weathering the Storm: The Impact of the Great Recession on Long-Term Services and Supports - Preliminary Findings

States are curtailing optional services, extending waiting lists, cutting provider reimbursement, and taking other measures to cope with the worst economic downturn in 70 years according to a comprehensive 50 state survey. Even as state revenues shrink, the demand for services is increasing. On a brighter note, many states may participate in expanded HCBS services through ACA opportunities. Review preliminary findings presented at the National HCBS Conference in September, 2010.
