Save the Dates "Understanding Medicare" Webinars

The CMS National Training Program provides save the dates for their Medicare Program basics webinars. These webinars help those who assist people with Medicare make informed decisions about their 2024 health care coverage. The webinars will include different topics each day. Participants can attend one or both days, and space is limited. The webinars will be held on Tuesday, April 16 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. E.T and Wednesday, April 17 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. E.T.

Final Rule - Streamlining Enrollment in Medicaid and CHIP Coverage

On March 27, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the “Streamlining Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program, and Basic Health Program Application, Eligibility Determination, Enrollment, and Renewal Processes” (CMS-2421-F2) final rule. The rule is designed to make it easier for millions of eligible people to enroll in and retain their Medicaid, Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and Basic Health Program (BHP) coverage.

CMS Releases Latest Enrollment Figures for Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

On February 29, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the latest enrollment figures for Medicare, Medicaid, and CHIP. As of November 2023, over 66.7 million people are enrolled in Medicare; more than 34.1 million are enrolled in fee-for-service Medicare, and over 32.6 million are enrolled in Medicare Advantage or other health plans. Over 85.8 million enrollees have Medicaid and CHIP. More than 78.7 million individuals have Medicaid and over 7.1 million have coverage through CHIP. Over 12 million individuals are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid and are counted in the enrollment figures for both programs.

2024 Marketplace Open Enrollment Data - Biweekly National Snapshot

On November 21, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the first Biweekly National Snapshot for 2024 Marketplace Open Enrollment Data. CMS reports that nearly 4.6 million Americans have signed up for 2024 individual market health insurance coverage through the Marketplaces since the start of the 2024 Marketplace Open Enrollment Period (OEP) on November 1. Medicare Open Enrollment Ends December 7th

Medicare’s annual open enrollment period ends Thursday, December 7. During this time, people with Medicare can compare coverage options, like Traditional Medicare and Medicare Advantage, and choose health and drug plans for 2024. Medicare Advantage and Part D plan costs and covered benefits can change from year to year, so people with Medicare should look at their coverage choices and decide on the options that best meet their health needs. Coverage changes made during the open enrollment period take effect January 1, 2024.

Medicaid Enrollment and Spending Growth Amid the Unwinding of the Continuous Enrollment Provision: FY 2023 & 2024

KFF recently released a brief analyzing Medicaid enrollment and spending trends for FY 2023 and FY 2024, based on data provided by state Medicaid directors as part of the 23rd annual survey of Medicaid directors. Forty-eight states (including the District of Columbia) responded to the 2023 survey, although response rates for specific questions varied. Health Insurance Marketplace Open Enrollment Period Begins

Enrollment for 2024 Health Insurance on the Marketplace opened November 1 and will continue through January 15, 2024. Consumers are encouraged to visit HealthCare.gov or a state-based marketplace if applicable to enroll if they are uninsured, lost their Medicaid or Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage, or are looking to review health coverage options to meet their needs. CMS and HHS released tools, tips, and resources to help consumers find the best coverage options available to individuals and families in the federal Marketplace. Customers who enroll by December 15 will have coverage that begins January 1, 2024.
