Bill Aims to Improve Air Travel for Passengers With Disabilities

The Washington Post recently covered the Mobility Aids on Board Improve Lives and Empower All Act, which was introduced on Friday. The legislation requires the Transportation Department to provide public reports on damage to mobility aids during air travel and mandates airlines to inform passengers how to ensure their mobility aids fit safely on a plane. Additionally, the act orders the Transportation Department to study the feasibility of letting passengers board flights in their wheelchairs instead of transferring to a regular seat.

Toolkit: Listening to Riders and Providers

The National Aging and Disability Transportation Center released a new publication that provides a synthesis of intensive focus groups and stakeholder meetings on the transportation experiences of older adults, and younger adults with disabilities. In northeastern Massachusetts, AgeSpan pursues solutions that bring together housing and supportive services. Why? Many older adults and people with disabilities not only need afordable and accessible housing, but also supportive services that enable them to be as independent as possible. NASBO 2019 State Expenditure Report

This updated annual report examines spending in the functional areas of state budgets and includes fiscal 2017-2019 data.
