New Medicaid Unwinding Resource Hub

Last week, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) launched a new online resource hub with Medicaid and CHIP Renewal and Transition Resources for Partners. This virtual hub provides key resources in one centralized location so all partners (e.g., states, beneficiary and provider organizations, and advocates among others) can better assist people with Medicaid or Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) renew their health coverage or find other coverage options that may be a better fit for them. ABLE Programs Prepare for Expanded Eligibility

Engaging Communities of Color to Promote Health Equity: Five Lessons from New York-Based Health Care Organizations

The Center for Health Care Strategies, with support from the New York Health Foundation and in partnership with ATW Health Solutions, assisted seven New York-based health care organizations in piloting strategies for engaging patients of color to advance health equity. This CHCS brief outlines considerations for health care organizations in developing patient engagement strategies, including: (1) building trust with patient partners over time; (2) tailoring outreach strategies; (3) using-trauma-informed approaches; (4) engaging patients in data use; and (5) approaching engagement with humility.

Promising Practice Profiles

These profiles include promising practices that agencies use to conduct education and outreach to inform consumers about benefits, and to help aging and disability professionals connect clients to benefits, such as the Medicare low-income subsidies, SNAP, and LIHEAP. The tip sheets include practices about: engaging consumers through fun and interactive games; a system for providing comprehensive eligibility information; and tools to simplify benefits information for staff.

Promising Practice Tip Sheet: Increasing ADRC Employees’ Awareness of Medicare “Help” Programs

The purpose of this tip sheet is to provide promising practices to help agencies increase the number of Medicare Savings Program and Low Income Subsidy applications. This tip sheet features an ADRC in South Carolina that uses two different practices internally to ensure that all of their staff is aware of the income eligibility numbers for MSP and LIS programs.
