SAN Resources

Accessing Strengthening the Aging Network Resources

Senior state officials will have several opportunities to participate in SAN training and to access SAN materials.  NASUAD also has developed four methods of delivering training to accommodate varying levels of experience and knowledge.

Call Registration
Participation in calls is limited to state officials with the exception of the two calls convened with N4A.  State officials may register for conference calls, by clicking on the links below.

  1. “Just the Basics” Conference Call Series --  NASUAD has organized seven conference calls intended for state officials new to their roles, the Older Americans Act, health care, and public service systems.  The calls will provide introductory information such as the basic framework of the aging and disabilities service systems, the differences between Medicare and Medicaid, and an overview of the Olmstead decision.   Click here for an overview of the calls including topics, dates, and times.  Participants must register for the calls.  Dial-in information and call materials will be sent to state staff following registration.   After the calls, materials will be posted on this website.

  2. Managed Long Term Care Conference Call Series -- Click here for an overview of the calls including topics, dates, and times.

    Regional Forum Registration
Click here for a complete schedule of Regional Forums, dates and times.  NASUAD will provide lodging information in the coming weeks.

  3. Regional Forums: Core and Advanced Training – NASUAD and AoA will convene five face-to-face Regional Forums for all state directors and senior staff.  Both new and experienced directors are encouraged to participate.  The Regional Forums will be held at the AoA Regional Offices and will be two and a half days in length.  Each Regional Forum will offer the same training topics (see below for agendas).  AoA Regional Office Administrators will deliver a one-day Older Americans Act Core Training.  During the balance of time, NASUAD will deliver training on six advanced topics.  The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services also participate in a portion of the advancing training for question and answer sessions on ACA provisions.

  4. Post-Regional Forum Conference Calls and HCBS Conference Side-Bar Meetings -- NASUAD will survey Regional Forum participants to frame post-Regional Forum conference calls and topical side-bar meetings that will be held in conjunction with the HCBS Conference, September XX-XX, 2011, in Washington, DC.

  5. SAN Web Presence – All training materials will be posted on internet in a format that foster self-training for state officials unable to participate in the conference calls or Regional Forums.

Additionally, NASUAD can provide one-on-one training and technical assistance to new directors.  To schedule a planning call for one-on-one assistance, please contact Mike Cheek at mcheek@nasuad.org.
