Basics of Medicare, Medicaid, and Implications of ACA

This call will address the basic characteristics of, and fundamental differences between, Medicare and Medicaid and provide a basic overview of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) with a heavy emphasis on chronic condition and Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) provisions.

Maximizing Federal Opportunities

During this call participants will gain an understanding federal opportunities including the concept of federal matching funds (i.e., Older Americans Act, Medicaid), converting local programs to programs that are eligible for federal match and information on programs that offer additional federal funding such as Money Follows the Person, Health Homes.  Participants will also learn about achieving efficiencies through Older Americans Act programs and will be provided an overview of how to use a Global Budgetary Self-Assessment.  The latter is a basic work sheet for new directors to complete with their staff to assess their array of funding sources.
