North Dakota: An Example of an Oral Healthcare Program for Older Adults in Long-Term Care Facilities

Oral Health America is hosting a webinar to discuss how North Dakota has collaborated with key partners to establish an older adult oral health care program for residents in long-term care facilities. This webinar will discuss an overview of the importance of conducting a basic screening survey; engaging key stakeholders to strategize on the oral healthcare delivery and education programs provided to staff in long-term care facilities; and implementing a standardized screening tool.

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn the importance of conducting an Older Adult Oral Health Care Basic Screening Survey and how the data can help guide your work.

2. Identify key stakeholders to address the oral healthcare needs of older adults residing in long-term care facilities.

3. Learn how to develop a strong oral health policy for meeting the needs of nursing home residents; meeting all current federal regulations.

4. Participants will be able to implement a dental screening tool to be utilized by providers among all new nursing home residents, ensuring the tool meets the highest standards for quality dental care for older adults.
