Matin Luther King, Jr. National Day of Service

Monday, January 16, is Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, a national holiday celebrated nation-wide as a Day of Service.  The best way to honor Dr. King is through service and volunteering in our communities. Dr. King devoted his life to advancing equality, social justice, and economic opportunity for all. He challenged us to build a more perfect union and taught us that everyone has a role to play. Four decades later, we still have work to do to realize Dr. King's dream.

NASUAD supports this Day of Service and encourages states to sponsor and publicize available opportunities.  For more information on the Day of Service, visit the Corporation for National and Community Service MLK Day of Service website, here.

In conjunction with the Day of Service, NASUAD also encourages state volunteer programs to apply for “Volunteers Matter: NASUAD’s Excellence in Volunteer Services Award.”  More information on the Volunteers Matter initiative can be found here.
